Since kayaking is a favorite activity for our family, it seemed only natural to build a couple
of cedar-strip kayaks. Both of these boats were designed using Ross Leidy’s Kayak Foundry software. They are both made
of western red cedar, pine, mahogany and purpleheart. The boats are encased in fiberglass and epoxy resin with carbon fiber
details and reinforcing. I have also made several Greenland style paddles for myself and family. The photo below is of my
brother rolling his kayak with one of my paddles. I don’t sell kayaks as they take about 4 months to build and take
up a lot of valuable shop space. However, I thought they may be fun to look at.
